Theoretical physics: condensed matter physics, molecular physics, quantum optics, gas laser theory, nonlinear dynamics, and chaos. Experimental physics: intramolecular motion in organic molecules using pulsed solid state nmr, optical properties of impurities in solids using spectroscopic techniques, intensity fluctuations of lasers, including intrinsic noise, dynamical instabilities, and photon statistics.
