This program is intended for professionals who hold a master’s degree in Counseling or a related field and who are interested in pursuing a career in Art Therapy. This 30-credit specialization will benefit the work of teachers, nurses, counselors, social workers, and others in the mental health professions. Graduate art therapy courses fulfill the educational requirements for registration as an Art Therapist. Graduates will need an additional 1500 hours of supervised clinical work in art therapy to qualify. Students needing coursework toward counselor licensure should consult the Post-Master’s Counselor Licensing program. NOTE: The current 30-credit Post Master’s Specialization in Art Therapy is in the process of being revised and, pending NJ State approval, will become a 36-credit Master’s in Art Therapy effective Fall 2008. All students who enter the current Post Master’s program will transition into the new Master’s. For the most part, the core curriculum will remain the same, with very few modifications. This change has come about as a result of changes in the registration process with the American Art Therapy Association. For further information, contact the Art Therapy Graduate Coordinator, Marie Wilson, M.A., A.T.R.-B.C., L.P.C. at 973-618-3511 or mwilson@caldwell.edu.
