The purpose of this integrated program is to provide a broad-based didactic and research experience to beginning doctoral students, with maximum flexibility in the choice of research area. Students admitted into this program have the option to pursue doctoral research with more than 100 faculty members in the biomedical sciences. These faculty members have appointments in the Departments of Anatomy and Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Microbiology, Pathology, Pharmacology and Toxicology, and Physiology. This arrangement provides the studentswith an exceptionally diverse choice of research areas, encompassing virtually all aspects of modern biomedical sciences.
