The Department of Biology offers the traditional M.S. degree program with three areas of specialization. The first is Biology which requires a research thesis, and includes two fast tracks, one in Biological Chemistry (additional information in the chemistry undergraduate section of the Catalog), and one for students who hold an Associate of Arts degree from a Florida public institution (additional information in the biology undergraduate section of the Catalog). The second is a non-thesis specialization in Coastal Zone Studies. The third is a non-thesis specialization in Environmental Biology. The department also offers a program leading to the M.S.T. Post Secondary degree. The Biology program is designed for students seeking advanced studies in areas of modern biology and biotechnology with training in the fields of aquaculture, biochemistry, ecology, environmental studies, fisheries biology, genetics, immunology, marine biology, microbiology, molecular biology, plant science, and physiology.
