The vocational implications of disability are a significant focus of the program. Through applied problem-solving techniques, rehabilitation professionals facilitate positive adjustment to disability and reduce barriers to employment as a strategy to empower individuals with disabilities. Diverse educational backgrounds are welcome. A desire to work with people in a helping capacity and volunteer or work experience with persons with disabilities are considered assets. A Rehabilitation Counseling concentration for working professionals with two or more years experience in rehabilitation services or a related field is available online.     Accreditation Information: The Graduate School at UW-Stout is fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools (NCA) to offer programs at the master's and education specialist levels. CORE.  # Of Credits Required: 48  Time To Degree: 2+ years    Previous Degrees BS degree (such as Vocational Rehabilitation, Psychology, Sociology, Special Education, Occupational Therapy, Social Work) from an accredited institution, and an overall grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.75. Specific educational background not required, the applicants transcripts will be evaluated to determine if deficiency will require additional course work to earn the degree. Deficiency requirements may differ among the various concentrations.  Pre-Requisite Courses International Student Requirements Admission requirements include: (1) Admission to a graduate degree program and the Graduate School; (2) English proficiency TOEFL score of at least 173 computer-based and 500 paper-based or 213 computer-based, 550 paper-based depending on which program is chosen, and 61 Internet-based. Test scores should be sent directly to UW-Stout (school code #1740); (3) Official copies of all post-secondary transcripts (translated into English), including proof of baccalaureate and/or highest earned degree; (4) Undergraduate GPA of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale; (5) specific program requirements.
