The School of Health Sciences offers programs leading to the M.S. or Ph.D. degree in health physics, occupational health (industrial hygiene, ergonomics), medical physics, toxicology, and environmental health. These training programs prepare graduates for positions in federal agencies, medical and academic institutions, or private industry. Two types of master's degrees are available. For the non-thesis option, the student takes a minimum of 33 semester hours of course work and completes a Master's project. The thesis master's degree program consists of a minimum of 24 semester hours of courses and a research-based thesis. The M.S. program in occupational health is ABET accredited. The doctoral program normally involves approximately 48 semester hours of credit in the students' primary and related areas of interest, together with the preparation of an acceptable scholarly thesis.
