Students must pursue an area of concentration; current standing specialization's are housing and community development, local economic development, and metropolitan growth management. The urban planning curriculum emphasizes the maintenance and revitalization of older urban areas, undertaken in the context of an awareness of the interdependence of core cities and their regions.
