The graduate program provides in depth study in either Consumer and Family Economics or Housing within a broader, interdisciplinary context. Course work is centered in the Department, but draws upon offerings from across the College and throughout the University. Consumer Economics is an analysis of the family economic system as a producing and consuming unit within the larger economy. Courses build on the theory of economics of the family and include coverage of such topics as: Consumer information and protection, Family financial management, Family consumption, Family resource management. Housing is an analysis of the consumption and investment in housing and its impact on families, the community, and the economy. Courses include a multi-disciplinary examination of family housing decisions, with special attention to housing policy.
