The Ph.D. Program in Literature at the University of Notre Dame is an innovative interdisciplinary program, which focuses on the study of foreign literature from a transnational and intercultural perspective. It combines in one doctoral program the forces of several departments and programs--Classics (Arabic, Greek, Latin, Syriac), East Asian Studies, French and Francophone Studies, German, Iberian and Latin American Studies (Portuguese, Spanish), and Irish Studies--and draws on Notre Dame's strengths in Philosophy and Theology.
