As the leader in chiropractic education since 1906, National University of Health Sciences (NUHS) is renowned for academic excellence, an outstanding faculty, and innovative educational leadership. National prepares its DC students to become first-contact, primary-care physicians and musculoskeletal specialists, fully qualified to diagnose, treat and manage a wide range of conditions. In addition to a distinctive science oriented, hands-on curriculum, including a full year of dissection of the human body, National students are taught a solid core curriculum of Diversified Technique, the most commonly used and scientifically proven manipulative procedures, as well as flexion/distraction. Students also explore alternative treatment methods, including acupuncture, nutritional and lifestyle counseling, therapeutic exercise, rehabilitation, postural retraining, and botanical remedies. Students are prepared for the realities of life in the real world through the university’s unique Ethical Practice Management Program, which includes developing a real business plan for the future. During their last year, National students learn first-hand how to practice chiropractic primary care medicine at one of the university-affiliated clinics. Also available are special student rotations, Ancillary Clinical Experiences, Community Based Internships, and Clinical Clerkships. As one of only two institutions in the U.S. to combine chiropractic, oriental and naturopathic medicine on one campus, National students have the unique opportunity to participate in integrated learning situations. Instead of competing with each other, NUHS students are able to dialogue together, share collaborative research and clinical care opportunities, and work together to provide their future patients with the best of natural health care. NUHS offers its DC program at its university in Lombard, IL, & also through the University Partnership Center of St. Petersburg College in FL.
