Founded in 1996, the MSIT attracts IT professionals from around the Midwest who come together each Saturday at Northwestern University’s Evanston Campus to learn, network, and share information about IT and its critical role in today’s business environment. The program blends information technology and business principles, a diverse student body, academic professors and business executives, and convenient weekend classes to give you just the right balance as you look to further your education and your career. It’s a master’s degree program with a balance that works in the IT world.
Curriculum In today’s business environment, the strongest companies gain their competitive edge by striking the perfect balance between their business needs and their IT capabilities. They need workers who understand how to find this balance. Our carefully crafted program blends information technology principles (70 percent of our curriculum) with core business classes (30 percent of our curriculum) to help you make the best IT decisions possible for your company.
Structure Twelve course units are required for completion of the degree. These are offered over two years, September to June each year. Students take two courses each Saturday in three, ten-week quarters per year. The class day runs from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm. The MSIT uses a cohort model, where the matriculants in each admit year progress through the program as a group, taking the same classes together, and finishing together. Cohorts offer the ongoing fellowship of others who are experiencing the same academic and personal challenges
