In the first place, there is not a strong emphasis on basic neuroscience as such, but basic neuroscientific research is related to neuroclinical and biobehavioural, cognitive and biosocial problems. A second constraint has to do with the nature of behavioral phenomenona and brain/behavioral disorders: there is a great diversity of conditions in which the brain, psychological functioning, cognitive processes or behaviour are implied. It is therefore of utmost importance to constrain the research to a limited number of research lines, in order to improve the probability of relevant scientific discovery and progress. The concentration within B and B is on three major research lines,namely 1) Cognition, 2) Motor functions and movement and, 3) Emotion and affect.
