The Program in Trauma and Violence Transdisciplinary Studies is devoted to inquiry into all of the theoretical, critical, and clinical aspects of the analysis and treatment of trauma and violence, and their aftermath. Possible areas of study include war, torture, and terrorism; genocide; Holocaust studies; post-traumatic distress disorder; human rights; hatred; school violence; intimate abuse; illness; natural disasters; memory, remembrance, and memorialization; healing and reconciliation; and representations of violence and trauma. Building on the strong foundation of a core curriculum, students pursue an individualized course of study. The Master of Arts degree program offers unique preparation for careers in the nonprofit world or for doctoral study.
