The program is practice-oriented, emphasizing a problem-solving approach that empowers people in many disciplines to communicate more effectively and bridge the complex and isolated worlds of scientific and technical specialties. Industrial Hygienists are responsible for the recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace environmental factors that may affect the health, comfort, or productivity of the worker. This degree is offered both on-campus and on-line. The industrial hygiene program at Montana Tech is one of the most highly regarded industrial hygiene training programs in the country. Our program provides comprehensive state-of-the-art training in qualitative and quantitative assessment of chemical, physical, ergonomics, radiological, and biological hazards in the workplace as well as health effects, measurement and control technologies, statistical data analysis, regulatory compliance, health and safety program management and related issues. In fall of 2002, Montana Tech began offering its master of science in industrial hygiene through an online web based format. The online MS program is designed to bring graduate education in industrial hygiene to working professionals. The online MS degree is structured to encourage participative, collaborative, and applied problem-solving strategies that are facilitated by a faculty who will help integrate academic theory with current practical application. Graduates of the on-line program enjoy virtually 100% job placement or lateral placement in their current careers.     Accreditation Information: Under review for ABET Accreditation  # Of Credits Required: 37  Time To Degree: Three Years    Previous Degrees A Bachelor's Degree is required. Deficiency courses may be suggested to supplement the student's academic understanding of principles, particularly as they apply to Industrial Hygiene.  Pre-Requisite Courses International Student Requirements International students are required to submit TOEFL scores of at least 71 iBT, 195 CBT, or 525 PBT or IELTS of 6.0. It is the responsibility of the applicant to have foreign transcripts evaluated on a course-by-course basis by Educational Credentials Evaluators, Inc (ECE) to determine Grade Point Average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale. The equivalent of a U.S. Bachelor's degree must also have been achieved.
