The MU Sinclair School of Nursing offers the master of science in nursing with a focus on leadership in nursing and health care systems by providing a broad base of leadership and management experiences through a combination of online courses and administrative development hours in a supervised clinical environment in the student's geographic area. The curriculum includes theoretical courses and administrative practice that give students the knowledge, skills and insight to be effective as nurse leaders in a variety of diverse roles, such as clinical manager in any health-care operation providing frontline clinical guidance and leadership; nursing executive in any clinical setting with a focus on fiscal and clinical excellence; nurse entrepreneur in business or innovative health-care settings; or nurse consultant, providing insight into managing general clinical operations, patient safety initiatives and human resource challenges. The degree program requires 37 to 43 online semester credit hours and includes 180 administrative development hours in a supervised clinical practicum. Clinical experiences can be arranged in the student's geographic area.
