Biomedical engineering is the application of knowledge from engineering and physics to enhance the understanding of and provide solutions to problems in biology and medicine. The goal of the Master of Science Program in Applied Biomedical Engineering is to educate and train practicing scientists and engineers to be able to carry out engineering-oriented research and development in the biomedical sciences. This program began in 1993. The strength of the applied biomedical engineering program lies in the active involvement of the faculty in research and development.
