Master of Public Health (M.P.H.)
On Campus

New York University (NYU) recognizes that no single disciplinary approach is sufficient to respond to today’s complex global health challenges. Therefore, five of NYU’s premier professional schools (School of Medicine; Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development; Wagner Graduate School of Public Service; Silver School of Social Work; and the College of Dentistry with its College of Nursing) collaboratively offer the NYU Master’s Program in Global Public Health, awarding the Master of Public Health degree (M.P.H.). The program prepares professionals with advanced degrees from multiple disciplines to play leadership roles in promoting global health. Graduates of this program will be uniquely qualified to lead multidisciplinary initiatives to enhance the health status of individuals and communities around the world. Each of the schools participating in the Global M.P.H. program has a network of international colleagues and resources that provides a strong basis for a truly global experience. Our students come from all over the world, drawn by dynamic programs at NYU and the distinctive spirit of New York City. Students in the Master’s Program in Global Public Health will become part of this diverse community while enjoying the myriad offerings and research opportunities of a global, urban, research university. Students select from one of four concentrations: Epidemiology; Health Promotion, Disease Prevention, and Human Migration; Health Policy and Management; and Oral Public Health. In addition to the core public health curriculum, students take courses within their particular area of concentration and participate in an integrative seminar series. Students also complete a global public health internship as well as a final capstone project consisting of a real-life consulting engagement with an international public health organization. Dual-degree programs with the School of Medicine, College of Dentistry, and College of Nursing are also offered.
