Teaching Japanese Certificate
On Campus

This certificate program is designed to acquaint current or future teachers of Japanese with the latest methods, techniques, and curriculum design in the teaching of Japanese to K-12 levels. Participants will learn practical applications, such as material development, instruction design in different skills (e.g., speaking, reading, listening, and writing) as well as assessment (i.e., testing). The application of technologies (computer, Internet) to instruction and assessment will be also introduced. The focus of the program will be on giving participants ample opportunities to practice lesson planning in Japanese. We will also discuss issues in Japanese AP tests/credits, Proficiency tests, and attrition/transition for advanced study in Japanese.
