Children begin their education by asking questions. This is the inquiry process. Inquiry learning is defined as searching for truth, information or knowledge through questioning. The complex nature of society today requires that the educational system encourage students to go beyond simply memorizing facts and information to an understanding of how to interpret the mass of constantly changing data available in society today and make appropriate decisions. The Certificate in Inquiry-Based Learning offers a program that provides opportunities for educators to learn methods for developing appropriate strategies that build on their students' prior knowledge and allow them to apply that knowledge to new situations.
