Areas of importance for study include the identification of causal factors; the precise delineation of dose-effect relationships; the development of techniques for early identification of adverse effects; contributions to scientific basis of monitoring including biologic and health effects monitoring; the evaluation of the effectiveness of preventive measures including health promotion; and an understanding of important pathophysiologic mechanisms involved in the development of occupational and environmental disease.
