Elmhurst’s MSN program is designed to prepare professional nurses for clinical leadership. Whether you choose a concentration as clinical nurse leader or as nurse educator, you’ll attain cutting-edge knowledge and master key skills to enhance your practice with individuals and populations across diverse settings. As an Elmhurst student, you’ll work closely with faculty who have extensive practice and educational expertise in their fields. In small, highly interactive classes, you will form partnerships with faculty in pursuit of higher education, and prepare to step with confidence into clinical leadership in nursing. You’ll learn to use theory, evidence, and clinical expertise to validate or challenge clinical nursing practice to promote optimal outcomes for individuals and populations. You will develop communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate work with diverse groups. You’ll benefit from our focus on rigorous evaluation of interventions to promote optimal outcomes; the study of current issues in professional nursing; and interdisciplinary practice, which is critical in health professions education. This is a 33-credit hour program, designed to accommodate practicing nurses. Most courses meet on weekday evenings in intensive eight-week blocks. You may complete the program in two years of study, or adopt a slower pace to finish over a longer period.
