The College Student Personnel program is committed to the professional preparation of counselors, administrators, and student development educators in higher education environments. Such settings for masters graduates often include: student activities centers, academic advising offices, career services offices, offices of resident life, orientation, leadership programs, multicultural centers, and commuter affairs in college unions and counseling centers at community colleges and smaller colleges or universities. Doctoral graduates become graduate faculty, direct such offices as academic advising centers, student activities, offices of student life, multicultural centers, assessment and research, learning support services, career centers, and become deans of students or assistant vice presidents for students affairs. The masters program is designed to meet the 1992 Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education criteria for Master's programs with emphasis on the college student population and multicultural issues. The Council for the Advancement of Standards (CAS) is a cooperative effort of over twenty professional associations in Student Affairs Administration who have designed standards of preparation and practice for the profession.
