The program focuses on the application of theory and methods in geography toward the understanding of problems related to economic development, environmental quality, population change, and social well-being in different locational contexts: urban, rural, regional and international. The master's degree in applied geography will prepare and educate graduates for professional careers in industrial and commercial site selection, transportation planning, environmental assessment, and urban and regional development. The program emphasizes the application of theoretical constructs in geography to solve problems, particularly in the Triad and the State, but which can also be extended to the national and international levels.
