The Programs in Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences offer both entry-level education for career preparation as a physical therapist as well as post-professional education for individuals interested in leadership positions in clinical practice, education or research.

The entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy Program (DPT) is 31 months. The DPT degree is awarded upon successful completion of the academic and clinical course work including a clinical internship.

The DPT curriculum follows a problem solving, student self-directed learning approach emphasizing critical thinking for differential diagnosis, evidence-based practice and outcome assessment. Opportunity exists to work with faculty and PhD students on collaborative research and teaching projects. Students graduate with entry-level competencies and advanced knowledge as a result of a progressive curriculum that has clinical education integrated through out all two-and-a-half years including a 12-week clinical internship. Students use healthcare technology such as personal digital assistants and Drexel's standardized patient lab to enhance their learning experience.

The PhD Program prepares individuals for leadership, teaching and research roles in the profession.

The Post-Professional Clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) is intended to augment knowledge, skills, and behaviors attained in initial professional education to the standards required for the professional entry-level DPT. This includes current approaches in examination, diagnosis, and prognosis; clinical competence consistent with the preferred outcomes of evidence-based practice; and an increase role in prevention, wellness, and health promotion.

The Certificate Program in Hand and Upper Quarter Rehabilitation is designed for practicing clinicians in physical therapy or occupational therapy who wish to gain advanced understanding of the upper quarter, including the cervical spine, shoulder, e
