The Department offers only the M. A. degree. Most students are admitted after earning a baccalaureate degree in one of the behavioral, social, health-related or educational disciplines (REH). A Five-Year Program (REF) is available to USF undergraduates with strong academic credentials, and undergraduates interested in this program should contact the department during their sophomore year.

The graduate M. A. program is fully accredited by the Council of Rehabilitation Education (CORE) which is the national accrediting body for the field. Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible to sit for the national examination to become a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC). The required courses in the M. A. program plus available electives offered through the Department allow students to meet Florida educational requirements for licensure as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor.

Application deadlines for the graduate program are as follows: Fall: March 30; Spring: October 15; and Summer: No Admission
