USF is a major center for environmental geology. Our research encompasses hydrogeology, paleoenvironments, environmental geophysics, geochemistry/petrology, coastal processes, and natural hazard reduction. In the USF Geology Department, faculty and students work locally to solve environmental problems that affect our community, and globally to understand the basic processes driving geologic change.

The current graduate enrollment is about 30, and most full-time students are supported by either teaching or research assistantships. Internship programs are available for graduate students in hydrogeology to complete a Master's degree while working full- or part-time in the local hydrogeology industry. Explore this site or contact us to learn more about the Department and the specific program of study that is right for you.

Application Deadlines for the graduate program are as follows: Fall: February 15, Spring: October 15 and Summer: No Admissions

The Graduate Certificate in Hydrogeology is for post-baccalaureate for groundwater professionals and interested graduate students with a background and coursework in geology and supporting physics, chemistry, and calculus. Individualized curriculum is selected form the hydrogeology internship program. Additionally, this Certificate, with 15 additional hours of geology at the undergraduate or graduate level, meets the education requirement for certification as a professional Geologist by the Florida Department of Professional Regulation.

The Graduate Certificate can be completed within five to six graduate courses. No GRE is required. Must submit graduate certificate application. For more information call 813-974-7207 or visit www.grad.usf.edu .
