The PhD in Biomedical Sciences: Biological Communication program will give you the theoretical background and practical skills necessary to conduct biomedical research. The program incorporates molecular biology, cell biology, genetics and biochemistry. This program is research-based and the most significant part of your doctoral work is your research and the relationship you develop with your research mentor. Many students work closely with OU faculty in the Department of Biological Sciences and the Eye Research Institute. Recent research topics in biological communication include intercellular signaling, signal transduction, mechanisms of regulation of gene expression, cancer biology, cell motility, molecular biology of the eye, and chemical communication between organisms.
