The program requires the completion of 60 semester hours. This usually can be accomplished within six semesters (three years). Students from other disciplines with a strong academic record and evidence of a good visual sense are admitted with the understanding that they will take such prerequisite work as is deemed necessary. Students must submit visual materials (films, videos, or other creative work) for review for admission to the program. The UNC Greensboro Broadcasting and Cinema Department was listed as among the "top U. S. film schools" in an article in the May, 2001, issue of American Cinematographer.
