The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) at Indiana University is a pivotal site for interdisciplinary research and instruction focused on Latin America and the Caribbean. More than 50 faculty members at Indiana University teach and conduct research on the region, with especially strong expertise on Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, and Brazil. Students also benefit from the university's extensive library collections and nationally prominent research institutes. Through a consortium with the Helen Kellogg Institute for International Studies at the University of Notre Dame, CLACS received designation as a National Resource Center from the US Department of Education in 2000.
