The Program in Mathematical Methods in the Social Sciences (MMSS) aims to help students develop advanced skills for formulating and analyzing mathematical models in the social sciences. Faculty and students in the program share the conviction that rigorous mathematical analysis of theoretical models can lead to a better understandingof social problems. The focus of the program is on formal theoretical models rather than statistical and quantitative data analysis.
