The primary aim of the graduate program in physics is to train innovative and productive scientists with a thorough knowledge of basic physics and the ability to effectively approach original research problems in academia and industry. Major areas of research include (1) Condensed Matter and Materials Physics, (2) Atomic, Molecular and Chemical Physics, (3) Optical Physics, (4) Non-Linear Dynamics, Chaos and Statistical Physics,(5) Computational Physics, and (6) Physics of Nanoscopic systems.
