M.A. in Museum Anthropology
On Campus

The M.A. in Museum Anthropology, offered by the Department of Anthropology at Columbia University and the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH), is a professional degree for those currently working in or interested in moving into the museum field. Students with an M.A. in Museum Anthropology learn not only the practical skills necessary to work effectively in a museum environment, they also develop the theoretical perspective essential to those who are using material culture to express ideas through visual display. The MA program trains students:to interpret ethnographic and archaeological collections for the general public, to work in registration or collections management, to become scientific or research staff for a range of museums.
