The graduate program in English is intended for students of literary study and rhetoric/writing. Both the literary concentration and the rhetoric and writing concentration offer a broad-based curriculum designed to provide students with increased awareness of the pleasures and purposes of scholarship; increased understanding of literary and/or rhetorical traditions; careful, critical reading and writing skills; and competencies for a variety of careers.
