Nuclear science and engineering is concerned with the understanding, development, and application of nuclear reactions and radiations. It includes reactor physics, nuclear power, plasma physics, thermonuclear fusion, electron and ion beam physics, neutron activation analysis, prompt and delayed gamma ray spectrometry, atomic physics, and radiation damage in microelectronic structures. The graduate programs at Cornell allow specialization in a science, in engineering, or in a combination of the two.
