The Alliance for Graduate Education in Mississippi (AGEM) is a consortium of the four doctoral degree granting universities in the state, The University of Mississippi, Mississippi State University, Jackson State University and The University of Southern Mississippi.

The purpose of the AGEM consortium, which is supported by a National Science Foundation Minority Graduate Education grant, is to enhance the opportunities for minority students to participate in doctoral training in science, mathematics and engineering disciplines. The AGEM consortium strives to achieve this goal by coordinated programs, including a graduate bridge program, graduate stipends, mentoring, a variety of workshops to develop professional skills, and a statewide symposium to promote networking.

The above universities are strongly committed to providing a more nurturing environment for graduate studies by underrepresented minority students.
