Students in the Program in TESOL and Applied Linguistics at Indiana University may pursue a Certificate in Applied Linguistics , (a postbaccalaureate award), an M.A., a Ph.D minor or a Ph.D. The Program presently has approximately 50 students altogether in all programs. They come from all over the United States and many foreign countries. Currently, the Program has a core faculty with strengths in second language acquisition, sociolinguistics, interlanguage pragmatics, language testing, language learning backgrounds, and language program development and evaluation. The Program maintains close contacts with many cooperating faculty in other areas such as African Studies, Anthropology, Classical Studies, Computer Science, East Asian Languages and Cultures, Folklore, French and Italian, Germanic Studies, Near Eastern Languages and Cultures, Philosophy, Psychology, Slavic Languages and Literatures, Sociology, Spanish and Portuguese, Speech and Hearing Sciences, Uralic and Altaic Studies, and the School of Education.
