To combat this trend towards over-specialization, Rutgers-Newark has initiated a multidisciplinary training program in Cellular and Molecular Biodynamics. This program, funded in part by the National Science Foundation, draws together faculty from the departments of Biological Sciences,Chemistry,, Physics and Center and Molecular Neuroscience. Each department has both a strongindependent research program and a dedication to graduate research training. The participatingfaculty all have in common an active research interest in the physical mechanisms underlyingvarious biological phenomena, complementary technical and/or methodological approaches, andmost importantly, the proven ability to transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries and levels inpursuit of research interests.
