Each year we welcome several dozen college graduates from science and other liberal arts backgrounds, as well as undergraduate programs in speech pathology, from across the country to our three-year, full-time M.A. program in speech-language pathology. Our goal is simpleùto prepare the best speech-language pathologists in the country. The curriculum is both vibrant and rigorous and provides a broad-based, scientific, and comprehensive education in both the theoretical and practical aspects of speech-language pathology and audiology. Through course work and clinical fieldwork, youÆll understand normal and disordered communicative behaviors; learn to make informed diagnostic judgments; become skilled at planning and executing therapeutic programs for the communicatively impaired; and contribute to the profession through scholarship and research. Our on-campus, state-of-the-art Speech-Language Hearing Clinic provides onsite, professionally supervised training. Continue your clinical education off campus, working with children and adults in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, schools, private practice clinics, and adult day-treatment facilities. Recent placements have included the world-renowned Rusk Institute for Rehabilitation Medicine, New York Presbyterian Hospital, the Village Nursing Home, the Kennedy Child Study Center, and the Manhattan Center for Early Learning. Summer study abroad programs in Lund, Sweden and London, England provide a unique and deeply enriching opportunity to advance your knowledge or accelerate your studies. Our graduates are in high demandù99 percent of them secure a speech-language pathologist position within a year of graduating. Our small and highly selective Ph.D. program in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology gives you the knowledge and skills to work in the profession as a scholar, educator, or clinic director or in private practice.
