The program leading to the Master of Arts Degree in Mass Communication provides two tracks: broadcasting andjournalism.

The broadcasting track offers two emphases: broadcast administration and media technology. The courses inbroadcast administration are designed to provide students with academic preparation and work experience required for careers in the administration of radio and television stations at the mid-management level. The courses in media technology are designed to provide students with advanced skills and work experience for planning, organizing, and producing broadcast programs.

The journalism track offers four emphases: news and editorial writing, technical and science writing, advertisingwriting, and public relations. The courses in the journalism track are designed to provide students with knowledge,skills, and practice in information gathering, analysis, writing, editing, and presentations specific to the fouremphases in the track.
