Environmental Hydraulics is the study of fluid motions in rivers, lakes, estuaries, coastal waters, groundwater and air that relate to problems connected with human activities. We particularly emphasize studies of pollutant mixing in density-stratified water bodies; methods for control of turbidity in urban runoff; modeling flow and contaminant transport in surface and subsurface environments; designing outfalls for the discharge of wastewater and thermal effluent.
