The learning and memory area emphasizes basic theoretical principles of learning and memory in both humans and other animals. Application of these principles is also covered. The fields covered by the research with nonhuman animals include: instrumental and classical conditioning, animal memory, discrimination learning and attentional processes, and motivation. Faculty interests with humans include: memory (e.g., retrieval processes, recognition memory, and decision processes), learning, problem solving, and higher mental processes. In addition,application of behavior analysis to human behavior is covered.
