The Andrew Young School is located in the heart of downtown Atlanta, close to many business and nonprofit headquarters, which provides an excellent environment to learn and practice good policy. Our students The Andrew Young School attracts a diverse and talented group of students into its programs. The School actively recruits international students; in 2006, our undergraduate class included students from 24 different countries, and over one-third of our 346 graduate students are from one of 50 countries. Our pool of applicants is better each year, and our graduates find placement in jobs ranging from local government to the World Bank. Andrew Young School faculty are top-notch, both prolific researchers and excellent professors and mentors. They hail from 12 countries and diverse professional backgrounds, and offer valuable specialties in economics, public and nonprofit administration, and urban studies. Faculty and research associates work in tandem with our seven research centers to provide technical assistance to more than 35 countries, as well as further our knowledge of domestic issues in health, transportation, and public finance, for example. The Andrew Young School mission is to create and disseminate knowledge and analytical methods that are highly valued by policy makers and leaders in the public, nonprofit, and business worlds; and to educate students who are highly qualified and sought after as policy analysts, program evaluators, and designers of administrative systems. This mission is focused on economic and social development policy issues and problems, and on the design, implementation, management, and evaluation of policies that address issues of economic and social development on the local, regional, national and global levels. Georgia State University ranked 27th among 269 graduate programs in public administration.
