Our goal is to use theory, research, and activism to alter existing educational practice. Graduate students will develop individualized programs of studies that allow them to pursue academic and/or research careers in Teacher Education (Elementary Education, Middle Grades Education, Secondary Education, Math Education, Science Education, Social Studies Education, Language Arts Education, or English as a Second Language and Foreign Language Education), Social Foundations of Education (Anthropology, Sociology, History and Philosophy of Education), Curriculum Theory, Multicultural Education and/or Educational Policy Studies with a focus on issues of race, class, and gender. The program typically requires 3 to 4 year of study.
