In addition, graduate instruction is offered in such comparative or topical areas as Military History, Women's History, History of Religion, Jewish History, and the History of Science. Doctoral programs ordinarily are limited to American, Ancient, Medieval, Early Modern British and European, Modern European, and East Asian History; as well as comparative studies in the History of War and Society; Women's History; the History of Industry, Agriculture, and Society; the History of Science and Technology; and the History of Religion.
