Syracuse University's Department of Child and Family Studies, housed in the College of Human Ecology, offers master's (M.A., M.S.) and doctoral (Ph.D.) degrees in child and family studies, with possible specializations in child development, family studies, or early childhood education. The M.A. program prepares students to work directly with children and families in various educational, familial, or community settings. The M.S. program prepares students to pursue a doctoral degree and, ultimately, a career in higher education, by providing relevant education and research training. The Ph.D. program prepares students to pursue careers in higher education, health and human service administration, or careers in which they will work directly with children and families. Courses and training emphasize multicultural perspectives in child and family relationships and diverse research methodologies and scholarship.
