The Department of Nursing emphasizes quality teaching complemented by scholarly and creative expression, clinical expertise, community service, and service to the nursing profession. Faculty are dedicated to the development of professionals who enrich the nursing profession by responding flexibly and creatively to societal and workplace issues. Graduates of the master’s degree program increase their professional expertise by a focus in a specialty area and more depth in scholarship. The program has three areas of focus: Community/Public Heath Nursing, Nursing Education, and Nursing Management. The majority of the University of Hartford’s graduate nursing students are working full time and pursuing their degree on a part-time basis. We are committed to making it easier for working nurses to pursue advanced study on a part-time basis. The Community/Public Health area of focus can be completed in two to four years depending upon whether you choose to enroll in one or two classes each semester. Classes generally meet once a week and are conveniently scheduled in late afternoon and evening.

Accreditation Information: The MSN Program at the University of Hartford is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate nursing Education (CCNE) and is approved by the State of Connecticut Board of Governors for Higher Education.
