The graduate program in ergonomics and biomechanics (ERBI) at New York University offers a Master of Science and an advanced certificate to students who seek an advanced understanding of these complementary disciplines. A Doctor of Philosophy is also offered in environmental health sciences with a concentration in ergonomics and biomechanics and a concentration in occupational biomechanics. The ERBI program focuses on musculoskeletal ailments and utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to examine ways of controlling musculoskeletal disorders, injuries, and disabilities. As such, it emphasizes the complex interaction of individual and environmental factors that lead to injury, disease, and/or disability. The ERBI program is part of the New York/New Jersey Education and Research Center (ERC), Region II of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). The center serves as a regional resource for all those involved with occupational health and safety, including industry, labor, government, academics, and the general public.
