The M.S. degree can have a professional focus as a tool for upgrading qualifications in a career setting which involves use of statistical methodology. An undergraduate major in mathematics or statistics is not required; successful candidates may have backgrounds in economics, business, the social sciences, engineering or the natural sciences. The professional degree is particularly flexible and may be tailored to meet a wide variety of career needs. Tracks exist in computational statistics, statistical signal processing, engineering statistics, applied statistics and federal statistics.     Accreditation Information:   # Of Credits Required:   Time To Degree:     Previous Degrees An undergraduate major in mathematics or statistics is not required; successful candidates may have backgrounds in economics, business, the social sciences, engineering or the natural sciences.  Pre-Requisite Courses In addition to satisfying general admission requirements for graduate study, all applicants must demonstrate basic computer literacy. They must also hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a field that includes course work in calculus or real analysis, matrix or linear algebra, and calculus-based probability and statistics.
