Master's
M.A.- Economics
On Campus

Our Master of Arts in Economics is a graduate degree which emphasizes applied economics. The program has a firm commitment to economic theory, but the main focus is on economic policy analysis. Students must complete a core set of requirements that focus on economic theory and analytical tools. They must also complete a policy practicum which requires the application of economic analyses to specific subject areas and policy issues. The program is designed to enable students to identify the economic content of a problem, develop hypotheses, apply appropriate analytical tools and models, and develop policy alternatives. To develop these skills, students perform considerable empirical work, usually related to some issue of current policy significance, in their field courses. Computer literacy, and the ability to communicate ideas clearly through writing and oral reporting, are important by-products of the program's applied emphasis.
