Spatial Information Science and Engineering is a contemporary discipline which advances the technologies that acquire, integrate, model, analyze, manage, and supply information about land, resources, and the complexities of human interactions with the environment. This discipline:
applies the measurement sciences of geodesy, surveying, photogrammetry, and remote sensing to acquire and manage data for a wide range of human endeavors, and
applies the concepts of math, physics, computer science, cognitive science, geography, and related sciences to design tools and techniques for analyzing, displaying, visualizing, and communicating spatial data.
